Fully implemented ConVar class so we could statically construct all SDK convars, this avoids a level of indirection, and allows for creating ConVar's everywhere in the project.
This patch also removed the settings tab of the ImGui server browser, as it has threading issues, while it technically never caused a crash yet, it has been removed as there was no point keeping it vs the work required to make it thread save (it only managed 2 convars which are perfectly manageable through cfg's or the in-game console).
Also temporarily disabled the creation of ConVar's in the mod system due to a memory leak, we would allocate and register a convar based on details parsed out of a mod file definition, but never unregister and free it.
* split rtech_game and rtech_utils cpp files into multiple files
* rebuilt several large pak load routines for debugging and custom implementations
* moved rson code to rtech_game
* reworked and improved engine and sdk pak precache system
* reversed more of the jobthreads system
Originally, we store the search results in a CMemory instance which we then assign to the actual function pointer. CMemory is just a pointer class; we can assign the results directly to the actual function pointer. This commit reduces a lot of code verbosity, and also reduced roughly 2KiB worth of static pointers in the resulting executable. This commit also officially deprecates the support for any GameDLL's below S3 (Season 3), since it makes more sense to port the assets from earlier/later games back to the version this SDK supports.
Moved adapter vendor check to its own func, added a global which could be used to fully disable the low latency system. Also added groundwork for the (future) PCL stats implementation.
Utilize the new IDetour::DetourSetup() code, IDetour::Attach and IDetour::Detach have been removed in favor of this (significantly reduces chance of user error). Since the template check happens in the idetour header, it is much more aggressive on type mismatches, such as a difference in parameter types, between the function and detour, will now raise a compile time error. As a result, some type mismatches have been fixed in this commit as well.
Display the error to the user without having to open the developer console or terminal window. This patch also adds printing to COM_ExplainDisconnection (which has been stripped out of the retail binary).
Some parts of the engine have to be rebuild in order to implement this correctly, therefore, it has been removed for now to avoid potential performance problems.
fps_max_rt and fps_max_gfx have been limited to 295 to avoid a contest with the engine's hard limit causing huge performance hits.
CEngine::Frame() tends to return out early if we are ahead of frame time, and therefore need to sleep. In this particular engine, CEngine::Frame() returns true if it had actually executed an engine frame, else it returns false.
Therefore, we end up calling 'NvAPI_D3D_Sleep()' multiple times a frame, and thus causing a major loss in performance. Now we check if we have actually ran a frame (incrementing reflex frame if so). If the frame was not incremented, but 'GFX_RunLowLatencyFrame()' was called, it will not call 'NvAPI_D3D_Sleep()'.
Code has been tested and appears to work on my system (never called twice or more per frame). Needs more testing on other systems to make sure its good.
Propagated latency markers in an attempt to further reduce input latency. Code is pending rigorous testing on several systems, including systems powered by an AMD GPU to make sure we are not impacting performance on systems that does NOT support NVIDIA Reflex.
Limits frames at a much higher level of precision than 'fps_max' and 'fps_max_gfx', probably ideal to reduce input latency even more. Also changed the logic of the NVIDIA Reflex frame limiter, to which it would use the desktop's refresh rate if set to '-1'. The new render thread frame limiter has a similar behavior. Using desktop refresh rates on the render thread or NVIDIA Reflex frame limiter requires 'fps_max' to be set to 0 (unlimited), as it would otherwise result in a major performance drop due to a contest if fps_max_(gfx/rt) is set to a similar number as fps_max.
This change was planned for a long time. This moves all REGISTER calls to a single translation unit, this is required as we currently added a very dirty workaround for not registering duplicates by checking if VFTable pointer was already present in the vector... Registering from single translation unit prevents duplicate instances that gets created if header is included by more cpp files.
Reworking this reduced 100kb+ of compiled code. This commit also reworked the way functions/variables/constant gets logged with their addresses; the new code formats them on the fly, and allows for resize at any time. Formatting is no longer required by programmer.
TODO: currently there are some compile errors for dedicated and client dll's. These will be resolved very soon as they need to be properly worked out still (server & client only stuff needs to be properly split). Use the 'main' (stable) branch for the time being if you need to compile these dll's.
server loads "vpk/server_mp_lobby.bsp" instead of "vpk/client_mp_common.bsp" and "vpk/client_frontend.bsp". Also removed the old hack we used to patch string constants to format VPK string paths as we have a proper implementation now using CEngineAPI::SetStartupInfo.
When '-novpk' is passed, the engine won't use the filesystem cache, and won't mount any VPK's (all files could be loaded from the disk essentially, the VPK files will be ignored).
Full rebuild of assembled function "CEngineAPI::SetStartupInfo". The assembly seems to match original function after rebuild. Does NOT support S1 yet, because TRACEINIT is inline in S1.
Removed extraneous 'FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE' flag. We disconnect clients using 'CClient::Disconnect(..)', relying on the client is useless without an anti-cheat and anti-tamper. Client can still use this to disconnect on its own though.
'migrateme' seemed useless as well, removed 'FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE'.
This makes all 'FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE' require 'FCVAR_DEVELOPMENTONLY' to be stripped, in order to execute without the '-devsdk' parameter (development launch arg),
* Use GetVirtualMethodTable for VFTable pointers.
* Pack CClientState to 4 bytes (this aligns it properly in memory).
* Use CClientState members directly for setting m_bRestrictServerCommands/m_bRestrictClientCommands.
Moved logging functions to dbg.h (tier0) and export them from the dll.
Added additional functions for checking bad pointers (debug only!).
Reduced output code size.
* Rebuild SetRestrictedServerCommand and SetRestrictedClientCommands
* Implemented new CMemory Function to walk through a VTable.
* pDetours->GetCon() gets called first now.
*
* Renamed 'r5apexsdkd64.dll' to 'gamesdk.dll'.
* Added required dedicated parameters to code instead.
* Bug fixes around CCommandLine class (fixed misaligned VTable indexes).
* SDK now supports being directly launched by the game executable.
The SDK launcher will pass '-launcher' to the game, which indicated its being launched by the launcher. If the game does not receive '-launcher', it assumes its being launched directly from the game executable, which will instead load 'startup_(dedi_)default.cfg'.
The sdk dll's are now added to the game's IAT by their dummy exports allowing for them to be loaded when the exe is loaded (the dll's do everything on init).
* Improve ConVar class (fixed several bugs).
* Hook CEngineAPI::ModInit() and set m_bRestrictServerCommands from there.
* Disable unused ConVar's and purge unused ConCommands in CEngineAPI::ModInit() for dedicated.
* Small relocation of malloc related signatures.
* Codebase restructured to SourceSDK codebase style and .cpp/.h assertion paths in the game executable.
* Document most functions with valve style 'Purpose' blocks.
* Rename variables to match the rest of the codebase and Valve's naming convention.
* Dedicated DLL and the SDKLauncher now share the same codebase as the DevSDK.
* Obtain globals or pointers directly instead of waiting for runtime initialized data.
* Dynamically search for all functions and globals (this doesn't count for dedicated yet!).
* Initialize most in-SDK variables.
* Move certain prints and other utilities under ConVars to reduce verbosity and increase performance.
* Print all pattern scan results through a virtual function to make it easier to add and debug new patterns in the future.
* Type global var pointers appropriately if class or type is known and implemented.
* Forward declare 'CClient' class to avoid having 2 'g_pClient' copies.
* Add IDA's pseudo definitions for easier prototyping with decompiled assembly code.
* RPAK decompress Command callback implementation.
* Load decompressed RPaks from 'paks\Win32\' overriding the ones in 'paks\Win64\' (the decompress callback will automatically fix the header and write it to 'paks\Win32\').
* VPK decompress Command callback implementation.
* Move CRC32 ands Adler32 to implementation files.
* Server will print out more details about the connecting client.
* Upgrade ImGui lib to v1.86.
* Don't compile id3dx.h for dedicated.
* Don't compile id3dx.cpp for dedicated
* Implement DevMsg print function allowing to print information to the in-game VGUI/RUI console overlay, ImGui console overlay and the external windows console
* Fixed bug where the Error function would not properly terminate the process when an error is called. This caused access violations for critical/non-recoverable errors.
* Fixed bug where the game would crash if the console or server browser was enabled while the game was still starting up.
* Several bug fixes for the dedicated server (warning: dedicated is still considered work-in-progress!).
